Italian singer and lyricist Cristina Scabbia is best known for being the female-lead-vocalist of the Italian gothic metal band, Lacuna Coil. She sings alongside male lead Andrea Ferrero. She was introduced to Atlantic Records, who wanted to make her a solo pop artist, but she objected, wanting to be part of a band that played pop punk. Atlantic said ‘okay,’ and she then formed Paramore. They released their debut album with the niche label Fueled by Ramen. In 2007, she finished second behind Evanescence’s Amy Lee in the “Sexiest Female” category of Kerrang! magazine.
